About Jean Berry

Jean BerryWhen I was 10, I walked through the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, and pointing at a famous painting, I told my mom, “I’m going to do that.” How quickly we dismiss the callings from young life! The voices in our head start to talk to us in the name of survival saying things like, “you’re not good enough to do that”, or “you can’t make a living doing that”. So, as a practical Virgo, when I started working I went into accounting, business and management. That was fun for a while, then in the late 90’s I went on a search to find myself.

As a mom, wife, and active community member, it appeared that my life was pretty perfect, but I had this nagging thought in the back of my head that seemed to think I was not doing what I was called to do. It seemed like there was something missing, but I didn’t know what it was. I took a few interesting courses called the Landmark Forum and the Landmark Wisdom course as well as a variety of others. I heard my inner 10 year old calling out to do something creative, so I enrolled in art school and went to Minneapolis College of Art & Design for furniture design, scheduling classes around my boy’s school and activities.

It was during that same time that I met an angel—my best friend, Lynn. Lynn died from breast cancer in 2005, but the 5 years before that, we went on a journey that transformed both of our lives. Together we went on a quest to find out who heals and why.

Day Walk

We travelled lots of interesting places and learned some cool stuff, (I’m certified in lots of interesting things…I’ll tell you all about them as time goes on!) But before her death, everyone knew that they had witnessed a miracle in her life. And although Lynn’s body didn’t heal, she experienced some miracles that transformed everyone who knew her. After Lynn’s death, I helped open a nonprofit Wellness & Healing center and served as the Executive Director. I started teaching courses on healing and purpose. When the center closed, I was left with a mix of art, healing and purpose.

I launched my first courses called Passion & Painting that mixed together all I had learned. I continued to refine the process, launching The Soul Guidance Courses and the Round Table Retreat.  When I created the company, True Spirit Works, it is truly an amazing mix of Purpose, Healing, Spirit, Passion, Creativity, Art and Getting Results! I get to live my passions while you get the cool stuff I learned during the process. I hope you fall in love with this process as much as I have. If you have any questions, insights or stories, please send me an email, or call me! I look forward to working with you and hearing from you.

I currently have a Painting Studio in my home in Austin, TX.   If you’re in town, I would love to greet you there, email me at jean@truespiritworks.com to set up an appointment.  I  look forward to showing you my studio and original paintings!

Have fun!
